PANCAKES

PANCAKES

I bless the blueberry pancakes’ origin,
Polka-dotted with fifty berries, each
A golden-tinted griddle masterpiece;
Crisp outs1de, softly firm within;

Laved with the maple syrup’s flowing jug;
Butter in abundance accompanied
By country sausages, spicy and rich, preceded
By chilled and fresh-squeezed orange juice; a mug

Of coffee freshly filled. And all is served
At a dahlia-centered table, out on the deck,
A sunny view to the heron-feeding creek.
Oh friends, what dcd we ever do to deserve

The final boon, the being with people who
Love to be with us, people that we love too.
