GRACE

Grace amazes with multiple meanings: first,
The unearned love of God; second, a charm
And beauty of movement in torso, leg or arm.
Since Friday, first and second are second and third.

First is the seven-pound ten-ounce miracle being
Born in Anchorage, Burke and Alvord sharing
The bounty of baby’s blessing on their pairing.
We parents assume we plan the overseeing

Of baby’s births; we check the budgets of time
And money, consult our intentions and make the moves
To lay the keel and launch the vessel “Love”.
We parents are overproud. Grace, from sublime

Transcendence decided the time was right to appear
And chose her puppet parents to “volunteer”.
